Firefighters coming down Old San Marcos Pass Rd. to fire

Fire on Old San Marcos Road, August 20

Fire in the 1300 block of Old San Marcos Pass Road; people attending a reception after a memorial service told me that either birds hit wires/transformer, or a transformer blew, and wires hit the ground, starting a fire. Kudos to the person who alerted 911 within about 15 seconds of the accident (even before flames erupted they told me), the quick evacuation of about 200 guests at the reception, the immediate response of our fantastic fire fighters (trucks, two water-dropping helicopters, spotter plane and Highway patrol officers, and the folks who cleared their property so it had a chance of being controlled quickly!
