Meat Prices Not Rising Because Of Drought

Meat Prices Not Going Up

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Cattle ranchers are worried because the lack of rain means paying more to feed their stock, but does this mean you'll pay more for beef at stores?

The answer is no.

In Solvang at El Rancho Market and in Santa Barbara at Shalhoob Meat Company the prices have remained the same. The drought so far has not affected the prices.

"Today's drought will affect all food items next year because the cost of feed will go up," said John Shalhoob, CEO of Shalhoob Meat Company.

As for now, business is as usual.
