CUYAMA, Calif. - Three people were killed Sunday afternoon following a head-on crash near Cuyama.
The crash happened at around 4:15 p.m. on Highway 166 about one mile west of Cuyama.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two SUVs collided head-on.
An emergency helicopter and ambulance were called to the scene but were called off once first crews arrived on scene.
First responders immediately notified other law enforcement that the three occupants were deceased.
According to Santa Barbara County Fire, a man and a woman believed to be in their 40s or 50s were in one of the vehicles. A man believed to be in his 20s was in the other vehicle. There were no other occupants in the vehicles.
California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The identities of the deceased will be released pending notification of next of kin.
