VENTURA, Calif. - A skateboarder is in intensive care after he was struck by a vehicle in Ventura early Sunday morning.
At around 12:45 a.m., Ventura police responded to the intersection of Seaward Avenue and Harbor Boulevard for a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.
Officers and paramedics found a 20-year-old man that was unresponsive lying in the intersection.
The man was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Witnesses told police that the man was riding a skateboard southbound on Seaward Avenue and attempted to cross the intersection at Harbor Boulevard.
The driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Harbor when the front of their vehicle struck the skateboarder.
The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and attempted to render medical aid to the injured skateboarder.
The skateboarder suffered serious injuries and is currently in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.
