SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A morning car crash wiped out a signal light in Santa Barbara and sent an elderly man to the hospital.
It happened about 9:30 a.m. on the corner of Santa Barbara Street and Anapamu.
The driver, who has not been identified, had minor injuries and was taken to Cottage hospital by an AMR ambulance.
Prior to the wreck, witnesses told Santa Barbara police the vehicle, a Toyota sedan, was side swiping cars on Anapamu near Laguna and then it went through two red lights.
The car went over the curb and came to a stop when it hit the signal light. In another two feet it would have gone right through the large glass window for Victor the Florist.
The signal light hit the famous neon sign for the florist, knocking the "C" and the "T" sideways.
Victor the Florist owner RaeAnne Alvarado heard the "boom," saw the accident and called 911. She described it as "very scary."
