Road closures in Grover Beach and surrounding areas

Oceano: Highway 1 closed from 4th St. to 13th St.

GROVER BEACH, Calif. - The latest storm passing through the Central Coast has already caused issues for some cities and towns.

The Grover Beach Police Department is reporting the following roadway closures due to flooding as of Jan. 4 at 3 p.m.:

  1. Grand Avenue: temporary flooding along the #2 lane in each direction. Crews will be closing a lane between 9th and approximately 6th.

  2. El Camino Real: Temporary flooding along the westbound lane. Full closure between 12th and the east bound on-ramp near Oxford Suites.

  3. S. 4th Street: Long term flooding south of Highland Way to HWY 1 - Road closed for an extended period.

  4. Front Street: Temporary flooding north of Newport. Possible closure pending.

  5. Baden Ave at S. 13th. Intersection is flooded. Avoid this area.

  6. Nacimiento Drive and related courts: Owens and Mono Courts are flooded and close to inaccessible. Meadow Creek continues to rise.

  7. Oak Park Blvd at Grand Avenue: Cross gutter at North intersection has deep flow. Avoid this area.

  8. S. 13th St. near The Pike. Localized flooding on northbound lane.

Additionally, Cal Trans is reporting a full closure of Highway 1 from 4th Street to 13th Street in Oceano due to flooding. There is no estimated time of opening at this time. Halcyon Road is currently being used as a detour. Caltrans officials remind drivers to use extreme caution in the area.

The San Luis Obispo County Public Works Department is also reporting a road closure in Avila Beach along San Luis Bay Drive from Monte Road to U.S. Highway 101.
