BUELLTON, Calif. - One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Highway 101 north of Buellton late Sunday night.
The crash occurred at around 11 p.m., just south of the Highway 154 intersection, according to California Highway Patrol.
A 2003 Lincoln Navigator SUV was traveling southbound during a heavy rainfall. The driver of the vehicle lost control and went off the roadway and into the center median where it overturned.
There were seven occupants all from Encino in the vehicle when it overturned. A 12-year-old girl was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
A 37-year-old woman suffered minor injuries, all other occupants were uninjured.
One of the lanes on HWY 101 was closed for about an hour during the investigation. The crash is under investigation but drugs and alcohol were determined not to be a factor in the crash.
