VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - A motorcyclist was killed Monday afternoon along Highway 150 near Red Mountain Fire Road just west of Lake Casitas, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 12:32 p.m. The name of the victim has not been made public until next of kin is notified. However, CHP described the victim as a Ventura woman in her 20's.
According to investigators, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Highway 150 west of the chlorination plant, when, for unknown reasons, drove off the right shoulder and struck a dirt berm.
CHP says the motorcyclist was thrown from her motorcycle and landed in the nearby brush on the side of the road. Although the rider was wearing a helmet, she suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
