SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A motorcycle crash Wednesday night injured the rider and it closed Gutierrez street in Santa Barbara.
The crash occurred at about 11 p.m. The motorcyclist was traveling west on Gutierrez and a witness said it was moving at a high rate of speed just before the crash occurred.
The incident left the rider on the asphalt about a quarter of a block away from where the bike came to rest on its side--by De la Vina street.
Residents nearby said the rider appeared to be unconscious.
Santa Barbara police had several units on the scene with AMR and the Santa Barbara City Fire Department within minutes of the 911 call.
The rider appeared to be a middle aged man.
He was taken to Cottage Hospital for medical attention. His injuries were not said to be life threatening.
