SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Santa Barbara police are investigating, what appears to be, an accidental hit-and-run that occurred at the intersection of San Roque Road and State Street Monday afternoon.
The incident happened at about 12:18 p.m. Police say an elderly male driver hit a motorcyclist with his car, then drove away. Officers say the man left the scene because he didn't realize he had hit someone.
An off-duty officer followed the elderly driver to Treasure Drive and Tallant Road where both of them waited for police to arrive.
The motorcyclist was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage. The condition of the motorcyclist is not known. The roadway was briefly closed.
