SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - A rollover crash seriously injured a driver Tuesday afternoon on southbound U.S. Highway 101 near the Nojoqui summit, north of the Gaviota tunnel.
A woman in her 20's driving a Chevy TrailBlazer was ejected from her car and suffered significant injuries, said Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Dave Zaniboni. She was found by emergency crews alongside her car on the freeway.
She was the only occupant in the car at the time of the crash.
Crews airlifted the woman to the hospital via Calstar medical helicopter, which made a landing near Highway 1 and U.S. 101. The crash victim was taken to the landing spot via AMR ambulance.
Motorists were advised to drive with caution in the area while crews conducted an investigation into the crash and clear debris from the roadway.
The incident happened just before 12:30 p.m. The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
