SUMMERLAND, Calif. - Traffic on the southbound 101 remains backed up following a crash near the Padaro exit between Summerland and Carpinteria.
At around 9 a.m., a utility truck veered off the roadway for unknown reasons. The truck sustained serious damage as it left the roadway and ultimately landed on its side near the train tracks.
Southbound traffic on the 101 was at a standstill for over an hour as crews cleaned up the mess of debris left behind by the crash.
California Highway Patrol said traffic would remain backed up for hours as they cleaned the roadway.
Train traffic was stopped completely as the crash was investigated and debris was removed from the tracks.
The driver of the truck walked away from the accident with minor injuries.
