UCSB basketball enters Big West play with an 11-3 record

Gauchos look ready for Big West Conference play

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - The Gauchos almost doubled their entire win total of last year before Big West Conference play began.

After setting a school-record with 22 losses last season, UCSB is 11-3 this season as they kick off league play against rival Cal Poly on Thursday, January 4 in San Luis Obispo.

First-year UCSB head coach Joe Pasternack has vastly improved the offense as the Gauchos are averaging 79 points per game, that's 19 points better than last season.

Four Gauchos are averaging double-figures in points led by Max Heidegger's 22.1 average which is tops among players in the Big West. Leland King II is scoring over 17 points per game, Jalen Canty 11.5 and Gabe Vincent is averaging 10.5.
