CARPINTERIA, Calif. -

Polo is called "The Sport of Kings" and Westmont College players are the kings of the college ranks.

Westmont won the Polo NCAA National Championship earlier this year, which is is a rare feat for a west coast school.

"The last time was 1986 when a West Coast team actually won and it just feels awesome to bring it to Westmont," team captain Patrick Uretz said.

The champs invited NewsChannel 3 reporter Joe Buttitta to the polo grounds for a lesson. Westmont players showed a very nervous reporter how to get on the animal and then a little polo.

"I had never been on a horse before so I was a little worried," Joe said. "But after a couple minutes and a very calm horse we ended up having a blast!"
