The Baseball Hot Stove Is Lit

Written by KEY News Staff

Santa Barbara -- The Santa Barbara Foresters and UCSB gathered at Earl Warren Showgrounds Friday night to officially usher in the baseball season.

It was the third annual dinner event for the two programs and hundreds were in attendance. The Foresters inducted its 2012 Hall of Fame class while fans of all ages were able to meet and greet many high profile players including world champion Skip Schumaker, Santa Barbara native Ryan Spilborghs and Texas Rangers All-Star Michael Young.

The event also serves as a fundraiser, as all profits from admission and a silent auction will go towards renovations at Ceasar Uyesaka Stadium, the facility which is used by both UCSB and the Foresters.
