Verkaik Will Return To Classroom Fulltime

Santa Barbara High School's first and only female athletic director is being reassigned to a teaching position for the 2012-13 school year. Nan Verkaik has been the school's athletic director since 2004. She will most likely teach physical education and video production classes.

In a press release from the school district, Verkaik said , "Since accepting the position in 2004, it has been both an honor and a pleasure to work with hundreds of great coaches and thousands of amazing students." Verkaik will continue to be the athletic director until the end of this school year.

A search for a new athletic director will begin in the weeks to come.
