Gauchos Rally Falls Short Against Irvine

Santa Barbara staged a late rally but they could not make up a 13-point deficit and fell at home 61-53 to UC Irvine in a Big West Conference game. UCSB trailed 47-34 with 6:51 to go but the Gauchos immediately went on an 8-0 run. They pulled within three at 54-51 with 0:32 to play but could get no closer. Nicole Nesbit led UCSB with 14 points as they dropped to 1-2 in league. Kassandra McCalister had a game-high 21 points for UC Irvine who ended a 10-game losing streak that they had vs UCSB.
