Cal Poly raced out to a 39-32 halftime lead behind 76 percent shooting but they cooled off in the second half while Long Beach State exploded behind Casper Ware. The tale of two halves ended up in a 78-69 victory for the 49ers who improved to 6-0 in the Big West Conference. Ware made five 3-pointers as he tallied a career-high 30 points. The Mustangs fell to 2-4 in league and were led by Will Taylor's 16 points.
