SLO Stadium Chosen As CCL Playoff Site

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - San Luis Obispo Baseball Stadium in Sinsheimer Park has been chosen to be the host site of the 2014 California Collegiate League playoffs. The playoff structure for the CCL will change this year with the addition of four new teams into the summer collegiate league. The playoffs, which will begin on July 31st, will feature the champions of the league's three divisions, plus a wild card team. The four teams that qualify will play over four days with the winner earning the league championship.

The CCL features 11 teams from around the state. The newly created North Division includes the four new teams in the league this year, the Menlo Park Legends, Neptune Beach Pearls, Pacific Union Capitalists, and Walnut Creek Crawdads. The Central Division features the San Luis Obispo Blues, Santa Barbara Foresters and Conejo Oaks, while the South Division includes the MLB Academy Barons, the Los Angeles Brewers, Santa Paula Halos and Southern California Catch.

Last season, the Los Angeles Brewers claimed the CCL championship with a series sweep over 10-time defending champion Santa Barbara. The CCL continues to rank as one of the finest summer collegiate wood bat leagues in the nation. In 2013, five players from the league were selected in the 1st Round of the Major League Baseball Draft.

The Blues will begin their 2014 season later this month with a three-game home series versus the San Francisco Seals starting July 24th. The Foresters, who will be looking to reclaim the league title this seaon, will start with a two-game home series with the San Diego Waves beginning on July 31st.
