SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A Santa Barbara police officer took third place at an international competition for police and firefighters held in Los Angeles earlier this month.
Officer Michaela Bebernes competed in the Women’s Crossfit Elite division (ages 18 to 29) at the World Police and Fire Games on August 14 and 15.
Bebernes earned a bronze medal while competing against over 35 international participants.
Bebernes has been a police officer with the City of Santa Barbara for the last year and a half and is an avid Crossfit competitor who has competed across the globe.
The World Police and Fire Games started in 1983 as a competition geared towards the health, wellness and camaraderie of first responders throughout the world. Crossfit categories have been added to the games recently and are reportedly very popular.
The Santa Barbara Police Department said they are incredibly proud of Bebernes and say she is a valued member of the force.
