Local High School Athletes Sign on the Dotted Line

Dozens of Area Players Will Continue to Compete in College

Signed, Sealed and Soon to be Delivered

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - All signs point to success. Dozens of high school athletes in the 805 area code taking part in National Signing Day.

As usual the day is dominated by football. Lompoc's Ainuu Taua signs with UCLA while Bishop Diego's Joe Salcedo and Nolan Tooley choose San Diego State and UC Davis respectively.

Dos Pueblos star Leshon Bell will be a preferred walk-on at Big Ten powerhouse Michigan State while Mission Prep's Patrick Laird is a preferred walk-on at Cal.

But other sports stars got their time to shine as well. DP's Stamatia Scarvelis, a champion in the shot put, picks UCLA while Dunn boys soccer standout Abu Danladi is also headed to Westwood to play for the Bruins.

San Marcos High School sees swimmer Dasha Depew sign with UCSB as did boys water polo player Shane Hauschild. Goalie Hannah Harrah is headed to Loyola Marymount and boys soccer player Robbie Landeros is off to Seattle University.

Santa Barbara High School girls water polo has two girls sign: Betsy Henrix will attend UCSB and Anna Brummett heads to midwest to play at Indiana University.
