Cal Poly Wins First Ever NCAA Tournament Game

Eversley Scores 19 Points in Historic Victory for the Mustangs

DAYTON, Ohio. - Cal Poly keeps making history. The Mustangs not only played in their first ever NCAA Tournament game, they won it!

Cal Poly shot 57 percent from the field as they soundly beat fellow 16th seed Texas Southern 81-69 in a first round NCAA Tournament game in Dayton, Ohio. The Mustangs advance to St. Louis to play undefeated and top seed Wichita State in the Midwest Region on Friday at 4:10 PDT.

Chris Eversley scored a team-high 19 points with nine rebounds while David Nwaba added 17 as the Mustangs pulled away midway through the first half and led 44-32 at the break. Texas Southern pulled within seven with just over two minutes to play in the game but the Mustangs held them off.

Cal Poly is now just 14-19 on the year but they are still dancing.
