Jamaal Wilkes along with 8 others inducted into Santa Barbara Dons Hall of Fame

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - One incredible basketball season was more than enough to earn Jamaal Wilkes entry into the Santa Barbara High School Athletics Hall of Fame.

The former UCLA Bruins and Los Angeles Lakers star Wilkes played his senior year at Santa Barbara High School and the Dons won 26 straight games in the 1969-'70 season and advanced to the CIF semifinals.

Also inducted along with Wilkes were eight others:

Eldon Ford, tennis

Bill Oakley, Sr. football, basketball and baseball

Rodger Schmandt, football, basketball and baseball

Manuel "Lito" Garcia, coach

Victor Bartolome, basketball

Rudy Ybarra, soccer

Lola Trentwith Georgi, tennis

Dick Martin, special achievement

The SBHS Dons Hall of Fame induction ceremony took place at the Cabrillo Arts Pavilion on East Beach.
