CANYON COUNTRY, Calif. - The Cardinals have finally soared to the top!

Bishop Diego High School won its first CIF football championship in school history as they beat Golden Valley 37-6 to capture the CIF Southern Section Division 6 title.

Bishop Diego forced five turnovers and broke open a tight game with three touchdowns in less than five minutes in the fourth quarter.

Isaiah Veal caught a 34 yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter for the only points in the first half.

He played a huge role on defense as Veal and Dylan Street each intercepted two passes and Street also blocked a first half field goal.

Senior John Harris scored early in the third quarter on an 8-yard touchdown run and the Cardinals led 14-0.

After Golden Valley scored a touchdown late in the third quarter, The Cardinals answered with a 60-yard touchdown run by sophomore Adrian Sorocco who was also a force on defense in this game.

On Sunday the 13-1 Cardinals will likely receive a CIF State regional bowl bid.
