John Harris ran for 201 yards with four touchdowns and added two sacks as Bishop Diego routed Quartz Hill 41-7 to win the CIF-State SoCal Regional Division 3-AA Championship.
The Cardinals advance to play Shasta High School of Redding in the CIF-State Division 3-AA Championship Bowl Game scheduled for Saturday, December 16 at 6pm at Santa Barbara City College.
The 14-1 Cardinals set the tone early as Harris sacked Rebels star quarterback Matthew Tago to force a 3-and-out on the opening possession of the game.
Quartz Hill dropped the snap on the punt and the Cardinals then blocked it and took over possession on the five-yard line.
A couple plays later Harris scored from one-yard out and just over two minutes into the game it was 7-0 Cardinals.
Bishop Diego quickly made it 14-0 as on their next possession Dylan Streett took the handoff 38 yards on the sweep for the touchdown, 14-0 Cardinals.
Still in the first quarter Harris ran through a big hole and raced 60 yards for a touchdown as the Cardinals led 21-0 after one quarter.
Early second quarter Harris continued his sensational game with a spectacular touchdown run.
He took a handoff from his own 9-yard line and burst through a big hole and sprinted up the sidelines but it looked like he would be forced out of bounds but Harris showed his strength as he broke through the tackle and finished off the long td run to put the Cardinals up 28-0.
Just before the half Jake Engel scrambled 11 yards for a touchdown as Bishop Diego went into halftime leading 34-0.
Early second half Engel hit Isaiah Veal for 43-yards which set up Harris' fourth touchdown of the game, a six-yard run to make it 41-0.
Quartz Hill avoided the shutout with a touchdown pass in the final seconds but Bishop celebrates an easy 34 point win.
