LONG BEACH, Calif. -

UCSB almost pulled off a magical comeback as the Big West Tournament opened up in Long Beach. Down by 13 with just over six minutes left, the Gauchos had a shot to win it at the buzzer but Onome Jemerigbe missed a runner from just past the foul line as time expired and UC Davis escaped with a 58-57 first-round win.

Seniors Melissa Zornig, Destini Mason and Nicole Nesbit led a spirited comeback as they all hit big shots down the stretch. Zornig finished with a game-high 21 points while Mason and Nesbit each added 16.

Despite the strong second half play in this game, it was a poor season for UCSB as they finished just 8-22 and played most of their home games in front of just a few hundred fans.
