The New York Yankees signed right-handed reliever Alfredo Aceves to a major-league contract Saturday and placed him on the 25-man roster from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

In 2013, Aceves went 4-1 with a 4.86 ERA in 37 innings with the Boston Red Sox.

To make room for Aceves, the club designated right-hander Chris Leroux for assignment. Leroux, 30, has allowed five earned runs in two innings of relief.
