The Boston Celtics and Memphis Grizzlies are on the verge of finalizing a trade that will send guard Jerryd Bayless to Boston in exchange for shooting guard Courtney Lee, ESPN.com reported.
A trade call with the league office is scheduled for Monday, according to the report.
Bayless is averaging 8.0 points and 2.0 assists this season while shooting 37.5 percent from the field. He has played in 30 games for Memphis this season, including five starts. He is making $3.1 million in the final year of his contract.
The Celtics have been trying to rid themselves of Lee and his contract, which has two more seasons to run at a little more than $11 million after this season.
The Grizzlies have nearly $7.5 million left of a trade exception they created in January 2013 by dealing Rudy Gay to Toronto. They can use that to help pay Lee, who is averaging 7.2 points this season and shooting 44.2 percent from three-point range. The Grizzlies need another perimeter threat.
The Grizzlies also waived guard Seth Curry, according to the ESPN.com report.
---Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving is expected to miss his third straight game Sunday with a bruised knee.
The Cavaliers host the Indiana Pacers. Cleveland played without Irving on Thursday against the Orlando Magic and Saturday against the Brooklyn Nets. He was injured during Tuesday's game against the Pacers.
---San Antonio Spurs center Tiago Splitter is out three to five weeks with a sprained right shoulder.
The Spurs announced Sunday that an MRI revealed the injury. Splitter was hurt Saturday night against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Splitter scored a season-high 22 points before getting injured after charging into the chest of Clippers center Ryan Hollins in the Spurs' 116-92 victory.
