The Cleveland Indians made a series of roster moves on Saturday.
Cleveland placed catcher Yan Gomes on the paternity list, purchased the contract of catcher George Kottaras from Triple-A Columbus, recalled left-hander Nick Hagadone from AAA Columbus and designated infielder Elliott Johnson for assignment.
Gomes left the team last night to be with his wife, Jennifer, who is expecting the couple's first child. He is batting .261 with five doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs in 26 games. The maximum stay on the paternity list is 3 days.
Kottaras, 30, signed with Cleveland on April 3 as a minor-league free agent after spending spring training with the Chicago Cubs. In nine games with Columbus, he is 2-for-25.
Hagadone, 28, has spent the season in Columbus, going 1-2 with a 3.97 ERA and one save in 10 relief appearances.
Johnson is 2-for-19 with a run scored this season.
