Chicago Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta was scheduled to make his season debut Saturday against the St. Louis Cardinals after coming off the disabled list.
Arrieta missed all of spring training with shoulder stiffness.
The Cubs made a series of moves Saturday.
They placed outfielder Ryan Sweeney on the 15-day DL with a right hamstring strain but he could miss three to four weeks. Sweeney was injured while running down a fly ball in left-center field during the eighth inning of Friday's game.
Outfielder Chris Coghlan was called up from Triple-A Iowa. Right-hander Kyuji Fujikawa, who had Tommy John surgery, was transferred to the 60-day DL to create a spot on the 40-man roster for Coghlan.
Coghlan is batting .243 with five doubles, six RBIs and six stolen bases in 24 games with Iowa.
Also, left-hander Zac Rosscup was optioned to Iowa.
