Ema Boateng's journey to MLS included several strong years in Santa Barbara area

Boateng enjoying his time with LA Galaxy

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Ema Boateng is enjoying his time back in California.

The speedster with the big left foot scored the winning-goal last Saturday night for the LA Galaxy against Real Salt Lake.

Boateng joined the Galaxy last year and scored two regular season goals and two more in Major League Soccer's playoffs.

Born in Ghana, Boateng was part of the African soccer developmental program the Right to Dream Academy where he came to Carpinteria to attend Cate High School.

in 2012 Boateng was the Gatorade Soccer Player of the Year, awarded to the top high school soccer player in the country.

He led Cate to back-to-back CIF soccer championships in 2011 and 2012.

After Cate, he attended UCSB where was the Big West Freshman of the Year after scoring four goals.

He played for the Ventura County Fusion in the PDL during the summer of 2013.

Boateng played professional soccer in Sweden's top-flight division before coming to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
