UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - It was a strange night at UCSB's Thunderdome.
The Gauchos had 12 first half turnovers but still led. Low post banger Mitch Brewe made two three-pointers and the rarest event was a Gauchos home win over Long Beach State.
Santa Barbara broke open a 26-24 halftime lead with a 24-7 run to start the second half as they cruised to a 64-51 win over the 49ers. The Gauchos had lost five straight against Long Beach State and had not beaten the 49ers in the Thunderdome since the 2009-'10 season.
Michael Bryson led a balanced attack with 13 points while Alan Williams and Brewe each scored 12 points. For Brewe the twelve points are a career-high.
UCSB is now 1-1 in the Big West Conference and 10-5 overall.
