Three terrific seasons came to an end for Santa Barbara schools in boys basketbal.
The biggest surprise was Santa Barbara High School's 64-57 loss at Oak Park in a CIF Division 3A semifinal game. The Dons were the top-seed in the division and had won 14 straight games.
Michael Alvarez scored a game-high 21 points and his backcourt mate Cole Micek added 19 points as the Eagles advanced to play St. Francis for the championship.
Noah Burke scored a team-high 19 points, Bolden Brace added 12 while Jack Baker tallied 10 points for the Dons who lost for just the third time in 28 games this year.
The Dons trailed 31-24 at the half and 46-35 after three quarters before making a run in the fourth quarter. They cut the deficit to three points with 2:16 to play but could not get any closer. Santa Barbara applied for an at-large bid into the CIF State Tournament but it will be a longshot.
In Division 5AA, Bishop Diego saw their season end at the hands of #1 seed Saddleback Valley Christian 70-48. The Cardinals finish the season 18-11.
In Division 6, Laguna Blanca lost at #1 seed Trinity Classical Academy 59-38. The Owls end the season 17-8.
