MOORPARK, Calif. - On second thought, Bishop Diego High School will not be playing in the Canyon League but rather they have been moved up to the tougher Camino League for football only starting in the fall of 2018.
Today administrators agreed on a new plan for the next releaguing cycle that was necessary after appeals by Thousand Oaks and Westlake were upheld regarding the original Northern Area plan that was formed in March. The appeal was over "competitive equity" concerns.
So as it stands now here is the new alignment for the Marmonte, Camino and Canyon football leagues starting in the fall of 2018:
The Camino League will feature Bishop Diego, Camarillo, Grace Brethren, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks.
The Marmonte League will consist of Calabasas, Newbury Park, Oaks Christian, St. Bonaventure and Westlake.
The Canyon League has Agoura, Oak Park, Royal and Simi Valley.
The plan becomes official when the Northern Area membership approves it which is expected in coming weeks.
The releaguing cycle runs for two years.
