Dons cruise past Royals in girls hoops

Dons race out to 24-0 lead and never look back against San Marcos

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Santa Barbara is known for their offense in girls high school basketball but it was all about their defense at San Marcos. The Dons held the home Royals scoreless until late in the second quarter on their way to a 54-23 Channel League victory.

Santa Barbara led 9-0 after one quarter and was up 24-0 before the Royals made their final three baskets of the first half as the Dons led 26-7 at intermission. Melissa Lemus scored a game-high 16 points while Ivette Gil added 13 points as Santa Barbara improved to 5-2 in league.
