You can't measure heart. Small in stature, Anthony Carter and BJ Murillo consistently made huge plays for the Bishop Diego High School football team over the last several seasons. Now they are headed to play college football despite being no bigger than 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
Carter is off to NCAA Division 3 power Linfield College in Oregon while Murillo committed to Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. Both players were outstanding in the Cardinals defensive secondary. Carter also played quarterback and returned punts while Murillo returned kickoffs and played receiver.
They were both All-CIF this year and both helped Bishop Diego to a 33-6 record in their three years on varsity.
The Cardinals now have six players off of this year's team that will play college football at four-year schools.
Joe Salcedo signed with San Diego State, Nolan Tooley is headed to UC Davis, Thomas Lash is a preferred walk-on at the University of Utah and Christian Pearson will join Murillo at Cal Lutheran University.
