Rocky Fire east of Atascadero contained

ATASCADERO, Calif. - Cal Fire San Luis Obispo assisted with a vegetation that sparked near the intersection of Rocky Canyon Road and Old Adobe Canyon Road, east of Atascadero.

The "Rocky Fire" broke out at around 1:30 p.m. and was initially reported to be around four acres.


At around 2:45 p.m., Cal Fire San Luis Obispo tweeted that the forward progress of the fire had been stopped at about 15 acres.


#RockyFire (final) fire is 80% contained at 17 acres. Firefighters will continue to mop up for another couple of hours.

Crews remained on scene to mop up and extinguish any hot spots that appear.

At around 6:00 p.m., Cal Fire said the Rocky Fire was 100 percent contained at 17 total acres burned. 

Another fire in San Luis Obispo County, the Range Fire, scorched over 5000 acres near Camp Roberts on Friday.
