About 30 poles will be replaced

PG&E crews prepare to replace poles...

SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - Pacific Gas and Electric crews have converged on Cachuma Lake Recreation Area to repair equipment damaged by the Whittier Fire.

PG&E communications representative Mark Messesan said, "We have lost about 30 poles here in the Whittier Fire."

Messesan said a helicopter is being used to hoist specially trained people into inaccessible areas where they can access the damage to PG&E equipment.

Crews will replace the burned poles once they get the authorization from Cal Fire to do so.

Dozens of PG&E workers, from out of the area, will be staying in local hotels until the repairs are complete and power is restored to area customers.
