Fire at Vandenberg Air Force Base scorches 10 acres

No threat to people or structures

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE - Multiple fire agencies responded to Vandenberg Air Force Base on Saturday for a small vegetation fire that broke out just after noon.

The Spring Fire has burned 10 acres but did not pose a threat to any structures or residents in the area.

Hot-shot crews from Santa Barbara County Fire and U.S. Forest Service assisted Vandenberg fire crews.

Multiple fire engines, hand-crews, bulldozers and air assets worked to put out the fire.

By 4:30 p.m., forward progress of the fire had been stopped and the fire was believed to be contained.

Firefighters will remain on scene to mop up hot spots throughout the evening.
