SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, Calif. - The historic Cold Spring Tavern is getting extra protection from the Whittier fire.
Special temporary water pools have been set up at the scene and hose lines are laid out. Sprinklers have been added to the rooftops on the restaurant and nearby entertainment area.
The restaurant has been closed a week due to the threat of the fire coming over the ridge.
Cold Spring Tavern dates back to 1886 and it was a stage coach stop for wagons that came over San Marcos Pass.
The rustic old west restaurant has been voted often as one of the most romantic restaurants in California.
