Coast Fire burns at least 13 acres near Lompoc

LOMPOC, Calif. - Santa Barbara County firefighters were called out for a brush fire in the 3800 block of San Julian Road south of Lompoc Thursday afternoon.

The fire was reported at 12:45 p.m. The first firefighters to arrive on scene discovered a large column of smoke, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Public Information Officer Mike Eliason.

Firefighters had a hard time getting access to the location of the fire due to its remote location, Eliason said.

The Coast Fire, as it's called, burned at least 13 acres and is expected to be fully contained by 9 p.m. Thursday.

Downed power lines were reported in the area. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
