Bridge Fire burning in Cambria prompts evacuations

CAMBRIA, Calif. - Firefighters responded to a brush fire in Cambria that broke out just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday near the area of Main Street and Bridge.

The fire burned approximately 3-4 acres according to officials, but the blaze prompted an immediate evacuation for the Main and Bridge street area, Cal Fire San Luis Obispo tweeted out.

Those evacuations were lifted for all residents living in the Wall Street and Bridge Street areas of Cambria as of 5:20 p.m. Residents may return to their homes.

Eleven fire engines, one dozer and at least one aircraft were utilized in the aggressive firefight against the blaze officials are calling the Bridge Fire. Firefighters are making positive progress. Crews have already stopped the fires forward progression at about 3:40 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
