SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - A man in his 70's was rushed to Santa Barbara to the hospital after suffering third-degree burns to his arms and legs during an RV fire Tuesday afternoon.
Personnel with the Santa Barbara City and County Fire departments responded to the 4200 block of State Street, an unincorporated area of Santa Barbara County, shortly before 2 p.m.
Crews discovered three RV's fully engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene. Firefighters put out the fire within 20 minutes.
The man was the owner of one of the RV's that caught on fire. He tried to start his vehicle by pouring gasoline into the carburetor, according to Mike Eliason, spokesperson for the Santa Barbara County Fire Department. The RV soon ignited into a raging fire.
An ambulance took the man to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
