SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -

Some of the larger whale watching vessels in the Santa Barbara Harbor are stuck at their docks because a wall of sand is prevention them from leaving.

The Condor Express crew says this is a very good time of the year for whale watching with the California Gray Whales on their journey near the local shores.

The weekend storm, however, left a wall of sand at the harbor entrance and the Condor Express, many local dive boats, and commercial fishermen are losing business until they can get in and out safely.

Waterfront officials say that could happen early next week once the dredging operation begins.

Until then, the whales will migrate without a viewing audience at their side - at least from the larger boats.
