VENTURA, Calif. -

The Ventura Police Department is investigating its first murder of the year.

Around 2:14 a.m. Wednesday the Ventura Police Department received a call alerting officers to a body found in a home on the 100 block of Vince Street. Police officers located the deceased victim.

Detectives determined this to be a homicide investigation. Officials identified the body as 38-year-old Ventura resident Dray Plueger.

According to court records Plueger has had many run-ins with authorities in the past, dating back to 1998.  The majority of Plueger's charges are drug charges, but he also has a burglary charge, a charge for carrying a switchblade knife and a couple charges for resisting a public officer.

The investigation revealed that the man died from multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities do not have suspects as this time and there is nothing to indicate that this was a gang-related crime.

Investigators ask anyone with information about the crime or the victim to call Ventura Police investigators at 805-339-4497.
