VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - The Ventura County District Attorney announced on Wednesday, that a Ventura County Sheriff's deputy acted reasonably when he shot and killed a Camarillo man in December 2015.
The so-called "suicide by cop" was caught on video. Deputy Leon Mah was working an overtime shift when he was confronted by Bryant Duncan.
Authorities say Duncan called 911 on a stolen cell phone and said he wanted to kill himself. They also say Duncan repeatedly asked to be shot.
Deputy Mah asked Duncan to put the knife down, but with dispatchers still on the line, Duncan lunged at the deputy who shot Duncan several times.
