VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. - The last day for residents impacted by the Thomas Fire in Ventura County to meet with a Red Cross caseworker and determine eligibility for immediate, financial assistance is Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.
The American Red Cross of Ventura County is transitioning out of the "immediate needs" phase of casework for residents affected by the historic fire and says the deadline will allow the organization to focus on the next long-term steps of recovery for Ventura County.
Residents whose homes were destroyed in the fire or suffered major damage and are experiencing immediate disaster-related needs are encouraged to call the local Red Cross office at 805-987-1514 to be connected to a caseworker before the Feb. 20 deadline. Those who have already applied will be able to continue receiving one-on-one support from the Red Cross after Feb. 20.
After Feb. 20, the Red Cross will work in collaboration with other community organizations and agencies to assist in supporting longer-term diaster-caused needs.
