VENTURA, Calif. - A large fire in a Ventura backyard destroyed a structure Sunday morning.
The fire was first reported at around 9:15 a.m. on the 1300 block of Aliso Place. Plumes of smoke could be seen throughout the city and fire dispatch received multiple 911 calls.
Firefighters arrived on scene and found an outbuilding completely engulfed in flames. The fire had spread to a nearby fence and caused minor damage to the home.
The first units on scene were able to knock down the main body of the fire in under ten minutes and prevented the fire from spreading to other structures.
Ash and smoldering debris were found over a block away from the fire, but the sparks did not ignite any additional fires.
The home is still considered inhabitable and there was no damage to the utilities.
No one was injured in the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
