VENTURA, Calif. - A friend and co-worker of a victim in the Las Vegas shooting is speaking out and offering an update.
26-year-old Ventura college student Savannah Sanchez was at the Route 91 Harvest festival when she was shot in the stomach.
Sanchez has been recovering in a Las Vegas hospital ever since.
Her friend Yusely Herrera reached out to NewsChannel 3 to deliver some good news: Doctors say Sanchez is well enough to be taken off life support.
“She is a strong girl and I know she is going to pull through anything,” says Herrera.
Yusely started a crowd-funding campaign to raise money for Savannah’s medical bills.
In just under one week, she has raised more than $20,000.
