Camarillo Child Annoying Suspect Arrested in Camarillo

CAMARILLO, Calif. - A woman from Camarillo has been arrested for Child Annoying after an incident at Camarillo Heights Elementary School.

A parent advised Camarillo Heights Elementary School staff that their child had been befriended by an older unknown female while walking home from school. According to the parent, the child was given a ride home by the female. The parent did not have a name or address for the female.

Camarillo Police were advised and began investigating the incident. School staff put in place protocols should the subject be seen in the area.

On February 28 around 2:30 p.m. Denise Dale went into Camarillo Heights Elementary School and stated she was a relative who was supposed to pick up the victim. School staff immediately contacted Camarillo Police and within minutes several deputies arrived on scene and detained Dale.

After a thorough investigation, Dale was arrested for Child Annoying. Police found that there was no physical contact between the victim and Dale. Dale was booked into the Ventura County Jail.

The Pleasant Valley School District and Camarillo Police would like to remind parents to speak to their children about 'Stranger Danger'. Explain that if you do not know someone, then that person is a stranger. The police and school district recommends that if a child should walk to and from school, that they should walk in pairs with a friend and that they should never approach or get into a strangers vehicle.

If you see any suspicious vehicles or activity, you should call the authorities immediately.
